Thank you for the great lesson Rione sensei. Its amazing how Japanese format in certain things like Dates/numbers can be unique but at the same time share similarity with Chinese/Cantonese.
See you next lesson.
Gambare with your badminton progression too!

Mikko sensei explained the grammar with me, and tried to explain them when I did not catch the nuance of Japanese. It is very usual for language learners that to process Japanese in our own mother language but mikko sensei always clarifies these misunderstandings/ unclear points with me. Happy to have lsns with her and definitely recommend to all!

Takako san is a very friendly and pleasant teacher. Indeed a pleasure to have a lesson with Takako san. But, my Japanese is not yet good enough to speak easily with Takako san. And, Takako san does not speak any English. This made the lesson a little bit difficult.

Yuko Sensei is an exceptional and patient teacher. Instead of just the textbook, she skillfully mixes multiple mediums—including videos, news, quizzes, games, and engaging readings. The topics she prepares are incredibly diverse, ranging from funny and cute to thought-provoking. She is excellent at adjusting the pace based on your progress, and you can always ask her to slow down or review. At the same time, she gently pushes us to make solid progress rather than staying in our comfort zone. It has been a true pleasure learning from Yuko Sensei, and I highly recommend booking her classes.

I learned about must and have to, the different ways we can use it. Thanks to Haruka sensei, I was able, little by little to get more confident about this grammar, and to use it during casual speech.

I had a lot of fun with Keiko Sensei during my trial lesson. I really enjoyed her teaching style and felt very comfortable speaking with her. I especially liked the idea of using YouTube clips followed by discussion activities, as it made the lesson interesting and interactive. The lesson was enjoyable, engaging, and very helpful for improving my speaking skills.

This first class with her was great! She is easy to talk to and the whole class had a great atmosphere. I did feel like I retained more things when talking with her in such a short amount of time than I have with previous tutors. I like that I could learn but also it was a lot of fun in the process. I look forward to doing more classes with her!

My daughter became very interested in Japanese because of anime, and our family also often travels to Japan independently.
She finished her entrance exam two weeks ago, and I felt that there was no need to rush into high school preparation courses right away. Since she has plenty of free time now, I thought it would be a great opportunity for her to start learning Japanese. It is a subject she is truly interested in, and at the same time, she can make good use of her time.
Teacher Hikaru is a very experienced teacher, and her lessons are very well-organized. Although my daughter is a complete beginner in Japanese, she can communicate with the teacher in English, so there is no problem during the lesson.
Teacher Hikaru is also cheerful, energetic, and always teaches with a warm smile. My daughter really enjoys taking lessons with her.
Thank you, Teacher Hikaru, for your thoughtful and dedicated teaching.

Megu sensei is a friendly and easy going teacher, she is able to teach different ways of sayings in Japanese when I am unsure of the correct way in japanese. She understands english and cantonese so it is also easy for me to express myself when I am having difficulties. I enjoy my class with her.

Kyoko is a very cheerful teacher, and the classroom atmosphere is fantastic; we're always laughing and chatting! She constantly encourages me and asks if I understand or have any questions. Her English is excellent; if I don't understand something explained in Japanese, she'll switch to English to explain, which is very thoughtful.
I want to take the JLPT certification exam, and she's very willing to cooperate with me, offering courses for the level I want to take. She also provides excellent feedback when I share things with her in daily life, which I find wonderful. I think this kind of cultural impact or understanding is different from traveling to Japan or watching Japanese dramas.
I feel very lucky to have met such a dedicated and incredibly friendly teacher. Thank you! ^^

I really enjoyed my trial lesson with Takako sensei this evening. We had a very good chat, and she let me speak a lot, which is exactly what I needed to practise my speaking skills. I felt comfortable throughout the lesson, and it was easy to talk with her.
She was very patient and supportive, and she gave me space to express myself while still helping when I needed it. Overall, it was a really positive and useful lesson, and I feel more motivated to continue learning Japanese. Thank you very much for the lesson today!

I always enjoy my lesson with Miyuki sensei as she is patient, clear with instructions and always sends me lesson notes for my reference. She also helps me with pronounciation and explains the nuances in the rhythm and production of the various sounds/words. I will continue learning with her as she is a very good teacher.

Q3. How do I choose my Japanese tutor?
If you have a clear idea of your criteria for choosing a tutor - such as any specific learning objectives, target cost for tutoring, etc. - you can use the search function to quickly find a tutor who suits your needs, and select “book trial” to set up your first Japanese online lesson.
If you don't have time to find a tutor or aren't sure where to start, we can help with recommendations. Try using our tutor recommendation tool here, which will provide you with tutor matches according to your selected needs.
Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a Japanese tutor who is a native speaker?
One of the best ways to learn Japanese is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only Japanese.
However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.
If you have a good range of vocabulary but lack the opportunity to practice, then we recommend you choose a native Japanese tutor.

Q6. How much will my online Japanese class cost?
All tutoring fees are set by the Japanese tutors themselves, and not by AT. Most of our Japanese tutors charge USD$10-30 per hour.
You can also get matched with suitable Japanese tutors who fit a specific budget. If the tutor’s fees work for you, you can buy a lesson package from them or start with a “trial lesson.”

You can pay with PayPal or credit card (American Express, Mastercard, or Visa). For certain international markets (e.g. Taiwan), we also accept local methods of payment, such as payment via ATM or convenience store.
Q8. How many Japanese lessons should I purchase?
If you have a short term goal, we recommend you purchase enough lessons that you can take classes consistently within your timeframe. If you need significant improvement to reach your goal, we recommend you an adequate number of lessons, and get into the habit of regular weekly learning! The more you put in, the more you get out of it!
