I understand learning a new language can be difficult, but as a passionate and goal-driven individual, I am here to help you achieve your learning goals. I have been a Book Lover and a Leadership/business coach for over 3 years now, So I will have lots of reading suggestions for you as you journey through the English language! I currently have over 7 years of experience teaching online and onsite students. I hold a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a 120-hours TEFL Certificate, and a Band 8.5 IELTS certificate. I have worked with students from kids to adults, and at all levels of proficiency. My philosophy is that the best way to learn a language is to connect it to yourself and your life, but most of all to have fun! Many of my students have grown from barely speaking English to communicating fluently with family and friends I speak French and I am currently learning Spanish so I understand what it is like to learn and comprehend a new language My teaching experience includes- 3 years of experience as a university-level Writing Consultant and Tutor. I had the privilege of guiding students through the intricacies of academic writing, including understanding writing techniques, proper language use, and composition structures. For students new to this style of writing, I demonstrated information-seeking behavior and guided them through university library research databases. I would work with the same students over several months, recording progress and identifying areas for improvement, and then adjusting teaching strategies to address specific challenges faced by each student. In-person and online, I’ve supported students across various courses and levels, from essays to research papers. I love supporting students who are passionate about their educational path and furthering their subject expertise. 1.5 years as a Tutor and Graduation Coach at a public high school In this role, I built meaningful relationships with high school students aged 14-18. My primary goal was to support their successful journey through high school and guide them toward graduation, and then pursuing university or vocational training. Whether working with small groups or individual students, I tutored students across core subject areas like English and social sciences. I partnered alongside homeroom teachers, and we had regular communication to ensure the alignment of lesson plans and materials to meet individual student needs. I worked closely with students as they learned to navigate the education system- Collaboration is key! Together, we identified strategies to improve organizational skills, boost in-class engagement, and ensure task completion. It was a priority that my students had a positive learning environment where they could unleash their creativity and build confidence to continue success in high school and beyond.
